Where the image breaks down.

Bessie, Van of Love, Update:
She is fine. Apparently there was something wrong with the fuel injection (I KNEW IT). A switch that had popped up had to be pushed down, or something equally simple.

Trip has been replanned for Monday - Tuesday, and all is well. I also had a poke around on the good 'ol Internet and there are many, many apartment complexes in Knoxville. I am now breathing normally again and hope to resume functioning as a non-shrill human being within a few hours. The Boyfriend is thrilled about this, as are the cats.

I know panic-stricken blog posts aren't the greatest thing to read, and I will make an effort from now on to keep my neuroses and fretting to myself. Next time: thoughts on grad school and hopefully another sock. If you have any questions about grad school that you'd like me to address (get me, I'm writing an advice column) just shoot me an email at the new blog account: specsknits at gmail.

yeah, you don't know me, but i read your blog every day (well, every time you update) (i think i found you through the skc). i was worried indeed, and feeling sad that i didn't know anything about (a) cars or (2) apartments in any part of tennessee. i'd have felt just like you did, i'm sure, had the same thing happened to me. panic is a natural response to a situation like that! :) anyway, chin up. you'll find a suitable apartment this year, and if you're staying for more than one year, think of this year as your starter-apartment year, the year in which you can scope out the neighborhood with the really jammin' apartments that no one has to advertise because they're all so good they go by word of mouth from the graduating students to folks like you, or who just post signs for a couple of days before they're snapped up by clever girls with cell phones who call about them while on their way home from class. (or maybe you'll score just such an apartment right here and now. you never know!) crossing my fingers for you!

Thanks, lisabe! Like I said, I'm much more calm now and just trying to plow through some work that needs finishing.

I can't wait until tomorrow when (if I get up early) I'll have time to actually clean the apartment before we leave. The excitement never stops around here.
