Like a sorority girl at her first kegger.

It's Flash Your Stash Day! Zibboisgood is hosting a competition of sorts. I'm not clear whether it's a photography competition or a see-who-has-the-most-yarn competition, but either way I'm flagging behind the knitters whose entries I've seen today. Just for the fun of it though, here are my photos.

Wool Ease leftover from my Dad's Christmas hat. I have no idea what to do with this. The Boyfriend wears these colors, but he wants/needs nothing knitted at the moment. I may resort to guerilla knitting and slip some socks into his dresser.

Moda Dea Aerie in the kitchen. A glamorous yarn in a decidedly unglamorous place. But I love this window, and I love having it in the kitchen so I can actively clutter it with stuff.

Leftovers from the ill-fitting sweater.

Stuff! You know, yarn I bought because it was in the orphaned yarn bin and I felt sorry for it (except for the Cherry Tree Hill -- that stuff is heaven to work with and worth the arm and leg I paid for it).

The rest. I have no idea what most of this is, but I'm absolutely positive it will all be put to good use someday. Really.

-----------------------------------------------
Still reeling a bit from the UTenn letter. The evening that I got it, I read it, cried, stopped crying, called my parents, cried some more, took a picture, emailed my advisor, cried, etc. Every time I re-read the first paragraph I'd tear up from relief and disbelief. It is quite possibly the most beautiful first paragraph of anything written in the English language.

It's hard to describe to anyone who isn't in academia (and this isn't meant as a derogatory observation in the slightest) exactly how important something like this is. The Boyfriend was pretty mellow about the whole thing. But the thing is, I've just been given a letter that says I can do what I love for the rest of my life. I know how few people get the chance to do this, and I'm extremely grateful and lucky.

That said, I've been celebrating this massively important occasion by jumping/dancing/flailing around and singing the only song I know about getting a PhD. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you The Ramones:

Slugs and snails are after me
DDT keeps me happy
Now I guess I'll have to tell 'em
That I've got no cerebellum
Gonna get my PhD
I'm a teenage lobotomy!

Download it, listen to it, sing along and shout the bit about the degree. It's best that way.

Your stash definitely has some potential - the Ramones rock and congrats on the letter :o)

Thanks! And yeah, I love the CTH, but the stash needs some expanding before I think of it as a real "stash." It's a more of a stashette now, to borrow Grumperina's term.
